Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the impact on London's position as a financial centre if the UK were to leave the Single Market.
The UK’s great strengths as a financial centre – geographical location, high standards of regulation, stable legal system, highly skilled workforce and cluster of complementary professional services - have not changed following the referendum.
The Government is taking the time to understand the needs of the UK financial services sector – and indeed all UK sectors – in advance of activating Article 50.
It is important Britain maintains its status as a great place for financial services. This is why the Government stands ready to help the sector maximise the opportunities that leaving the EU presents.
