Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether her Department holds data on how many people have died in collisions involving (a) e-bikes and (b) e-scooters in each of the last five years.
The number of fatalities in reported road collisions in Great Britain which involved at least one e-scooter are shown in the table for the last 5 years for which data are available.
Figures for e-bikes are not available as there is not a separate category within the STATS19 dataset from which these figures are derived.
Year | Fatalities in collisions involving e-scooter |
2021 | 10 |
2022 | 12 |
2023 | 6 |
2024 | 6 |
2025 | 10 |
Of the 44 people killed in collisions involving an e-scooter, 2 were pedestrians and the remaining 42 were e-scooter users. Of the e-scooter users, 4 were recorded by police as riding rental e-scooters as part of a legal trial. Information on whether anyone was prosecuted or charged following the collision is not recorded within the STATS19 dataset.
