Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to the answer of 2 March 2026 to Question 116101, whether each offender in the table is counted once only in each calendar year; whether the previous-conviction band is measured at the offender’s last qualifying conviction in that year; and how many offenders included for 2024 were convicted of theft from a shop more than once during that year.

With reference to Question 116101, each offender in the table is counted once in each calendar year and all previous convictions are counted as at the offender’s last qualifying conviction for each year.

The number of offenders who were convicted of theft from a shop more than once during 2024 are provided in the attached table.
