Question to the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, what estimate he has made of the capital investment required to place British Steel Limited on a commercially sustainable footing.

The Government has put in place a new Board of Directors who will be tasked with developing a plan to transform British Steel into a commercially and environmentally sustainable steelmaking enterprise. Ministers will consider these proposals in due course, including possible partnerships with the private sector. Delivering the best outcomes for taxpayers will remain a key priority for the Government.
