Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many (a) community and (b) immediate custodial sentences were issued for convictions of violent offences in each year since 1993.

Data on the number of offenders sentenced for violent offences, and the number of offenders sentenced overall, can be viewed in the table.
This data covers the period 1993 – 2017 and is broken down by offenders who were sentenced to immediate custody, and those who received a community sentence.
