Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many instances of face-down restraint were recorded in mental health settings in each year from 2010.

Data on the number of instances of prone (face-down) restraint are shown in the following table.

Data is not available prior to 2016/17 and the figures for the number of instances of prone restraint may contain duplicates where multiple interventions with identical dates and details (intervention type and duration) for the same individual have been identified.
