Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what the total running costs of the office of the Patient Safety Commissioner for England was for the last full year in which data is available.

The most recent total for running costs recorded against the Patient Safety Commissioner is for the financial year 2025/26, at £353,053. This figure is currently unaudited and remains subject to the National Audit Office’s review of the Department’s 2025/26 accounts expected later this year.

This total does not include an additional £53,000 budget transfer made to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in 2025/26 to support the transition of the Patient Safety Commissioner into the MHRA from the Department, following the recommendations in the Dash Review.
