Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many (a) Russian and (b) Chinese spy balloons have been reported in the airspace of (i) the UK and (ii) NATO members in each year since 2019.
This question was answered on 14th February 2023
We are not aware of any reports of either Russian or Chinese spy balloons in UK airspace in any year since 2019. The airspace of individual NATO allies would be the responsibility of each NATO member country.
