The Secretary of State and I have regular discussions with the Royal College of Nursing, including about how to improve the experience of nurses working in the National Health Service.

In line with the NHS People Plan, published in July 2020, there is a strong focus within the NHS on staff health and wellbeing. This includes providing ongoing physical and mental health support including targeting psychological support and treatment for those most affected, retaining staff who have come back into the NHS to help provide additional capacity and strengthening the role for occupational health to move from a reactive service delivery model to a more integrated, preventative partner.
