Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate she has made from the latest National Travel Survey of the number of trips per head made by people aged (a) 5-10, (b) 11-15 and (c) 16-17 by bus outside of London and Greater Manchester.
The below table shows the average number of trips per person by age band using buses outside London for residents of England, excluding Greater Manchester combined authority, aged 5 to 17. Figures are based on 2023 and 2024 combined to provide a large enough sample size for reliable estimates.
Average number of other local bus trips per person by age band: England, excluding London and Greater Manchester combined authority, 2023 to 2024
Age band | Other local bus trips per person | Unweighted sample size: individuals | Unweighted sample size: trips |
5 to 10 | 15 | 1,549 | 403 |
11 to 15 | 52 | 1,415 | 1,401 |
16 to 17 | 89 | 502 | 838 |
