Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to the Answer of 16 January 2023 to Question 118857 on Armed Forces: Housing, what estimate he has made of the cost to his Department of upgrading all Service Family Accommodation to an EPC rating of C or above before the new minimum EPC rating regulations come into effect.

As at 10 January 2023, there are 47,942 Service Family Accommodation (SFA) properties. Of these, 23,287 have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C and above.

The cost to upgrade all Service Family Accommodation to an EPC rating of C or above has been estimated at approximately £1.2 billion. This is based on an average cost of £48,000 per home.
