Question

To ask The Senior Deputy Speaker what opportunities are available to members of the House to question Lords Spiritual regarding their parliamentary activities.

This question was answered on 26th October 2026

Written and oral questions are addressed to His Majesty’s Government, or in certain cases to the Leader of the House or the Senior Deputy Speaker. Questions on matters for which the Church of England is responsible are generally regarded as inadmissible, as set out in paragraph 6.18 of the Companion to the Standing Orders.

The House of Lords Code of Conduct applies to all members’ parliamentary activities, including those of the Lords Spiritual. The Lords Spiritual are also subject to the same rules as other members regarding behaviour on the Parliamentary Estate and the use of facilities.
