Question to the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology:
To ask His Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the resilience of artificial intelligence research infrastructure in extreme weather events.
The Government recognises the importance of ensuring that critical AI research infrastructure remains resilient and reliable. AIRR systems are hosted in purpose-built data centre environments designed to support high-performance computing, including robust power, cooling and operational resilience measures. Responsibility for day-to-day resilience planning sits with the operators of those facilities, who manage risks including power interruptions, equipment failures and environmental conditions. The Government continues to work with delivery partners to ensure that investments in AI infrastructure are supported by appropriate facilities and operational arrangements.
