Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what steps he is taking to ensure that large private companies not included in proposals for climate-related disclosures being consulted on by the Financial Conduct Authority report in line with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures recommendation that they align their strategies with Paris climate change agreement objectives.

The Government formally endorsed the TCFD recommendations in September 2017. We welcome the progress being made implementing the recommendations on a voluntary basis. The Government expects all listed companies and large asset owners to be disclosing in line with the TCFD recommendations by 2022.

In line with the Green Finance Strategy, the Government has established a joint Taskforce with UK regulators, chaired by HM Treasury, to ensure a co-ordinated approach on climate-related financial issues.
