Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what steps she is taking with the Secretary of State for Education, to help place refugee children in local schools.
Children of compulsory school age must receive full-time education. Parents have a statutory duty to see that their children receive a full-time education and local authorities are under a duty to provide suitable school places.
The Government provides funding to enable local authorities, schools and health partners to provide vulnerable refugees with a safe environment and the chance to rebuild their lives.
