Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what assessment he has made of the impact of Section 24 of the Finance Act 2015 on levels of revenue loss among landlords.

Using the latest Self-Assessment data, HMRC estimate that in tax year 2019-20 only 13 per cent of landlords paid more tax on their property income as a result of restricting the finance cost relief to the basic rate of Income Tax.
