Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what discussions she had with the Metropolitan police on the revised section 14 notice issued under the Public Order Act 1986 to the Extinction Rebellion autumn uprising event in London on Monday 14 October.

The right to protest peacefully is a long-standing tradition in this country and a vital foundation of our democracy. It is also essential that people can go about their daily business without disruption.

Section 14 of the Public Order Act 1986 is a long-standing power available to the police. The use of this power is an operational decision.
