There are no plans to introduce a compulsory concession for home to school travel. Local authorities have a statutory duty to provide free home to school transport for all eligible children. In addition, they have the powers under the Concessionary Bus Travel Act to provide further local concessions.

The Government recognises the importance of ensuring young people are able to travel on public transport to and from places of education and keeps policies such as this under regular review.
