(asked on 20th February 2017) - View Source

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that fast food wrappers do not contain substances which are harmful to human health.

Legislation requires that all packaging in contact with food must not transfer harmful chemicals into that food. The onus is on food businesses to ensure that the fast food packaging they use is compliant with the legislation. Local enforcement authorities carry out checks to ensure compliance and any products that do not comply are withdrawn from sale.
