Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what estimate she has made of the amount that Ofsted spent on inspecting early years settings in the last year for which figures are available.
Ofsted is the non-Ministerial Government Department responsible for the regulation of childcare providers in England. Ofsted has stated that its direct cost of inspections and pre-registration inspections of early years settings was £22.9m in 2015-2016, the most recent full year for which financial information exists.
