Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, if he will make it his policy to ensure that there will be no restriction on IVF availability.

This question was answered on 8th February 2017

It is the Government’s long-standing policy that National Health Service commissioners should have regard to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence fertility guidelines in deciding local provision of in-vitro fertilization. It is clinical commissioning groups, which are led by general practitioners, that have the statutory responsibility to commission healthcare services that meet the needs of their whole population, reducing inequalities and improving care quality.
