Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to recommendation one of the Prison Service Pay Review Body 2021 report on England and Wales, published on 19 October 2021, if he will provide the Prison Service Pay Review Body with a comprehensive pay strategy, including short-, medium- and long-term objectives, for the 2022-23 pay round, to tackle the structural issues in the pay system.

The Government will be writing shortly to the Prison Service Pay Review Body (PSPRB) to commence the 2022-23 pay round. As part of the Government’s evidence to the PSPRB, we will set out pay proposals for the coming year alongside our pay and reward strategy.
