Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what recent assessment she has made of the adequacy of support for people applying for asylum during the covid-19 outbreak; and what steps she has taken to investigate the recent death of a Syrian man in asylum accommodation provided by a Home Office subcontractor at McLay's Guest House in Glasgow.

Any asylum seeker, who would otherwise be destitute can apply for asylum support.

The circumstances around the death of an asylum seeker in his accommodation have not been fully established, and we feel it would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of death at this time.
