Families: Disadvantaged

Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, if he will consider the merits of extending the criteria of the Troubled Families programme to include families affected by alcohol and other substance addictions.

We have already expanded the criteria for the new Troubled Families Programme (2015-2020) to include ‘parents or children with a range of health problems’. These health problems specifically include families where an adult with parenting responsibilities or a child has a drug or alcohol problem. This is set out in the Financial Framework which was published in March 2015:
