Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, if her Department will work with DCMS, the Met Office and public service broadcasters to agree and publish a standing protocol for the rapid dissemination on television and radio of official, episode-specific air-pollution warnings and protective advice, distinct from routine forecast coverage and subscriber notifications, while respecting broadcasters’ editorial independence.

We keep our approach to communicating air quality information under review to ensure relevant information is made available to the public in the most effective way, including consideration of alternative channels. This also involves collaborating with other Government departments and public bodies as needed.
