At the 2026 Autumn Budget, the Chancellor announced that the National Wealth Fund and British Business Bank will deploy up to £5 billion over the next four years into defence, dual use and other sectors that support our national security, sovereign capability and resilience.

At the Spending Review next year, the Government will set out the details of how we will meet our NATO commitment of spending 3.5% of GDP on defence by 2035, with a target date for 3% in 2030.
