Defra does not hold central data on how police forces exercise such powers. Under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025, police forces are required to keep a register of all dogs seized under section 2(1), where the dog is suspected of attacking or worrying livestock and no owner or person in charge is present.
