The Irish Data Protection Commission acts independently of the governments in both the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. We cannot comment on the specific nature of its investigations, but are aware of its inquiry into Google’s use of geo-location data following complaints brought by consumer groups from across the EU. Further details on this and other investigations can be viewed on the Commission’s website at: https://www.dataprotection.ie/.
