Question to the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade:
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, what the baseline, interim milestones and measurement methodology are for the target of 10 million workers trained in AI skills by 2030; and whether the methodology has been reviewed by the Office for Statistics Regulation.
The Government’s ambition is to support 10 million workers to develop AI skills by 2030.
Progress is currently measured through course completion data reported by delivery partners each quarter. As of the end of July 2026, more than 2.2 million courses had been completed through the programme.
The Department is developing a methodology to estimate the number of workers benefiting from the programme, recognising that individuals may complete multiple courses. Interim milestones and delivery assumptions will be established once this methodology has been developed. The Office for Statistics Regulation has not been engaged on this programme.
