Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether conduct by members of the Israel (a) Defense Forces and (b) Police in connection with violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory will fall within the scope of the expanded Global Human Rights Sanctions regime announced on 8 September 2026.

The Government is developing the detail of the measures announced on 8 September 2026 at pace. As announced by the Foreign Secretary, the new regime will provide powers to take action against individuals and entities that support, facilitate or profit from illegal settlement activity. The Government is also expanding the Global Human Rights sanctions regime to strengthen its ability to respond to serious violations of international humanitarian law. Detailed implementation arrangements will be set out in due course. The Government does not speculate on future sanctions designations.
