Question to the Cabinet Office:
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what steps his Department is taking to protect national security from potential impacts of inappropriate use of AI.

We are committed to ensuring the UK is prepared for the changes AI will bring.
UK laws protect against AI-driven security risks across many sectors and domains – for example cyber resilience, data protection, online safety, product safety, civil contingencies, and critical national infrastructure sectors. The Department for Business, Innovation, Science & Trade, works alongside the Cabinet Office, Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and others to anticipate and respond to risks emerging from inappropriate use of AI.
This is informed by technical experts, including in NCSC and AISI, who ensure government understands current and emerging AI risks and works with partners to develop safeguards against them.
