Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what steps his Department is taking to strengthen the bilateral relationship with Algeria, in addition to the work of the UK-Algeria Trade Taskforce.

UK and Algeria bilateral trade was £2.8 billion in the year ending March 2026. We are looking to collaborate across multiple sectors established in the 2026 meeting of the Economic Taskforce and wish to expand collaboration on renewable energy and energy transition objectives. We also work closely on tackling irregular migration, and organised crime. The UK and Algeria look forward to further strengthening the relationship through the ongoing UK-Algeria Strategic Dialogue.
