Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, if she will make an assessment of the potential merits of creating provisions or early-adopter frameworks for schools wishing to implement the new technical education pathways for 14 year olds for the 2027 GCSE cohort.

The department is at an early stage of developing the new technical education pathways. Our ambition is to give every young person access to high-quality technical education pathways from age 14 and support progression into further study, training and skilled employment. The department will work with the Mayoral Strategic Authorities, local leaders, and schools and education leaders to design locally tailored, vocationally focussed pathways for each region and to begin rolling them out from September 2028. As policy develops, we will continue working with key partners to consider the evidence needed to support the implementation of the pathways.
