Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will make it his policy to allow people born prior to section 43 of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 coming into force on 6th April 2009 to retrospectively amend their birth certificates to include both parents who are of the same sex, where only one parent is currently recorded.

There are no current plans to review these provisions in the act.
