Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate he has made of the cost to the public purse of the refurbishment of the Sprinter trains for the Durham Coast Line.
This question was answered on 7th May 2019
It is not possible to isolate the cost to the public purse of refurbishment of sprinter trains for the Durham Coast route as the costs of doing this (and offsetting increases in revenue resulting from it) were part of a much wider programme of rolling stock transformation that was offered as part of the winning bid and associated overall subsidy requirement offered in 2015 by Arriva.
