The UK is actively engaged in efforts to support the UN-led political process in Libya, the objective of which is to facilitate agreement between Libyans on a more inclusive political settlement, which would be the best way of stabilising the country. The British Government regularly engages with a range of Libyan stakeholders, including General Haftar. We recognise that General Haftar has an important role to play and have consistently encouraged him to engage constructively with the UN-led political process.
