The British Government remains deeply concerned about the deteriorating situation in the North-West and South-West (Anglophone) regions of Cameroon. We continue to shine a spotlight on the crisis and raise our concerns at the highest levels, including with the Government of Cameroon. We welcomed the convening of the National Dialogue in October 2019 by the Government of Cameroon, and the release of opposition leader Maurice Kamto among more than three hundred detainees arrested in connection with the crisis. Due process must be followed for all those who remain in detention.
