Prisoners: Gender Recognition

Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many transgender prisoners there were in (a) 2010 and (b) the latest year for which figures are available.
This question was answered on 20th November 2014
There are no central records of the number of prisoners who have self-declared a transgender status. Individuals with a gender recognition certificate are recorded on administrative systems in their legal gender, and are not identifiable as having changed gender.
