We published the second chapter of our world-leading childhood obesity plan in June 2018. This builds on the real progress we have made since the publication of chapter one in 2016, particularly in reformulation of the products our children eat and drink most. In chapter two we have set a bold ambition to halve childhood obesity by 2030 and significantly reduce the gap in obesity between children from the most and least deprived areas by 2030.

Through chapter two of our plan, we are delivering a trailblazer programme working with local authorities to address childhood obesity at local level. The programme has a strong focus on inequalities and ethnic disparities in childhood obesity and will support a small number of local authorities to take innovative action to address these issues in their community. It is a priority to encourage and support all local authorities to address these issues and we will share learning and best practice throughout the programme.
