An assessment of the number of children in poverty affected by the changes to the child maintenance system introduced from 30 June 2014 could only be made at disproportionate cost.

The Department for Work and Pensions does not generally record the income or circumstances of the families in receipt of child maintenance, only the income or benefit status of the parent liable to pay child maintenance.
