Information held on the prison population in England and Wales includes summary details of the main offences committed by prisoners, however it does not include specific information in relation to the professions of offenders on conviction. This detailed information may be held on individual prisoner files for offender management purposes.

In order to provide data relating to the number of offenders serving prison sentences and the criminal offences committed whilst serving as police officers would involve manually examining prisoner records which could only be done at disproportionate cost.
