Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether the EU Directives in respect of environmental impact assessments will apply during the transition period.

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive, continues to apply to the United Kingdom as it is implemented by domestic regulations preserved by the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018. This Act (as amended by the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020) also gives effect in domestic law to the United Kingdom’s obligations under the EIA Directive, until the end of the transition period.
