Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what is her Department's policy on monitoring the decisions taken by ICBs.
ICBs are statutory bodies responsible for commissioning health and care services. NHS England holds ICBs and NHS providers to account for delivery of national priorities and statutory functions and oversees them via an NHS oversight framework. NHS England has a legal duty to annually assess the performance of each ICB in each financial year and publish a summary of its findings, taking into consideration how well they are carrying out their statutory functions.
DHSC ministers are accountable to Parliament for all matters concerning health and social care. Ministers hold NHS England to account for delivery of the mandate and their statutory functions.
