Sudan: British Nationals Abroad

Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether any (a) British nationals and (b) nationals holding British residency have been taken hostage in Sudan.

We have been made aware of one British (dual national) who was detained in Sudan since the outbreak of violence - they were later released and returned on one of our evacuation flights. The UK Government continues to provide consular assistance to British nationals still in Sudan.
