Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, with reference to the Answer of 10 March 2026 to Question 117628 on Import Controls, whether construction is complete; how much money her Department has spent to date; and whether any other (a) central and (b) devolved Department has been subject to separate billing for the construction of the border control posts.
SPS Inspection Facilities at Belfast, Larne, Foyle, and Warrenpoint are now operational. Remaining works on 13 July 2026 were limited to minor snagging and commissioning activities in line with normal construction practice and include additional works at Larne which will enhance the live animal inspections already in place.
This Government, which has responsibility for delivery of these facilities, remains committed to a maximum funding envelope of £192.3 million. Of this envelope, £152.2 million has been spent up to the 13 July 2026. Further payments for construction have yet to be made in accordance with contractual terms, however the total expenditure is forecast to be within the maximum funding envelope.
