The Department has not made any estimate of the number of National Health Service trusts that provide mandatory bereavement care training for maternity staff in each of the last five years. It has also not taken steps to mandate bereavement care training for maternity staff in NHS trusts. Decisions about the provision of bereavement services are taken locally and it is for local NHS trusts to ensure that they provide appropriate training for maternity staff.
