Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what the cost to the public purse is of removing the cap on councils' housing revenue accounts.

There is no direct cost of removing the Housing Revenue Account borrowing cap. The cost to the public purse depends on the way in which local authorities use their new freedom to borrow.

Further details on removal of the cap will be announced shortly.
