Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what proportion of funding for the National Citizen Service was spent on frontline delivery in each of the last three financial years.

Grant funding provided to the NCS Trust for the delivery of the NCS programme in each of the last three financial years is set out below.

Although it is not possible to separate out figures for frontline costs from overall running costs, the NCS Cost Benchmark Report, released in February 2018, analyses the operational delivery cost of the four phases of the programme. The report found that the average costs per young person for each of the core phases of the programme compare well to the costs that would be incurred by separately procuring these at market rates.
