Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether his Department plans to appoint a dedicated global ambassador for religious freedom; and if he will make a statement.
The protection of freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) is an important element of the Government's foreign policy. On 4 July 2018, the Prime Minister was pleased to announce the appointment of Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's new Special Envoy on Freedom of Religion or Belief.
