In 2021/22, we allocated £17 million to address dementia waiting lists and increase the number of diagnoses. In 2022/23, NHS England is funding an evidence-based improvement project to fund two trusts in each region, to pilot the Diagnosing Advanced Dementia Mandate tool to improve diagnosis of dementia in care homes.

We will set out plans for dementia in England in the next 10 years later this year, which will focus on the specific health and care needs of people living with dementia and their carers, including diagnosis.
